Evaluation of European Social Fund Funded Small & Medium Sized Enterprise Workforce Planning Project

The Small & Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) Workforce Planning Project was designed to pilot workforce development planning for manufacturing & engineering and 'other services' businesses. Owner/managers were provided with free access to an online business assessment toolkit and key employees were provided with free access to an online skills assessment toolkit. Outputs from participation were a 12-month business improvement plan for the SME, training recommendations for the employees and the provision of workforce planning data to the Learning & Skills Council.

The evaluation was undertaken through a review of relevant documentation and telephone consultations with both regeneration organisations involved in the project and participating SMEs.
